God comes through for us

We are in a bit of a bind. I won’t go into details here yet, because I don’t want this post to be fishing for a solution. But the point is by Monday night (today is Friday) we need God to have moved in a supernatural way in our lives, to solve a problem that we have NO WAY of solving by ourselves. (I will post details of how God has come through for us after Monday).

God has promised to meet all of our needs. He has done this exact same thing for us before (but God tends to never solve a problem the same way twice!). We are trusting Him to come through for us again - especially as this is promised all through His Word.

But it’s still a bit freaky living on this side of the promise being fulfilled!

We’re trying hard to ask and be thankful, rather than panic and then plead!

Here are the scriptures that we are praying through:

Matt 6:25 So I tell you, don’t worry about everyday life–whether you have enough food, drink, and clothes. Look at the birds. Your heavenly Father feeds them, and you are far more valuable to him than they are. Look at the lilies. If God cares so wonderfully for flowers that are here today and gone tomorrow, won’t he more surely care for you?
So don’t worry about having enough food or drink or clothing. Your heavenly Father already knows all your needs, and he will give you all you need from day to day if you live for him and make the Kingdom of God your primary concern.

Psalm 50:10-12,15 For all the animals of the forest are mine, and I own the cattle on a thousand hills. Every bird of the mountains and all the animals of the field belong to me. If I were hungry, I would not mention it to you, for all the world is mine and everything in it. Trust me in your times of trouble, and I will rescue you, and you will give me glory.

1 Peter 5:7 Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about what happens to you.

Phillipians 4:6, 19 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.

Jer 32:27 “I am the LORD, the God of all the peoples of the world. Is anything too hard for me?”

I said to God the other day: “I don’t want to have my trust and faith tested / shattered by you NOT coming through for us.” The response that I got immediately - a clear sense of a quick answer: “So fight for it.”

By this I knew that He was referring to what the Eldredge’s and Neil Anderson talk about claiming back what has been stolen, and binding the evil one from usurping my authority in God. We were already doing this, but not quite so focused as we are now!

To be continued…

OK, Monday has come and gone, and we are still here!

The crisis was that the rent was due, and we simply didn’t have the money to pay it. I got a very strong sense to NOT borrow the money, but to sit tight and rely on God.

We were expecting a flamboyant miracle, maybe something like what has happened to us once before where someone handed us an envelope containing $1000 cash two days before the rent was due. But God never tends to fix something in the same way twice, and I have noticed that he tends to empower us to provide for ourselves before he performs the acts of ‘charity’. So what happened was on the day the rent was due, a bill that I had to pay and that I had the money set aside for, came in at $300 less than what I had budgetted, which gave us just enough to be able to pay the rent! I rang the agents and asked if it would be ok for the money to be a couple of days late (not that I could do anything about it anyway!).

So the rent is now paid. I also managed to find some other money for a few more bills, but now the 20th (6 day’s time) is the next “crunch time” - where the car payment will bounce unless we get some more cashola! But we just trust in God. He has promised to provide all that we need. And that is what He will continue to do…

Praise God! :-)
