Travel times and distances

Something I’ve been meaning to do for ages…

Just how far are we going? And how long is it likely to take?

So I sat there with Google maps up, and plugged in destinations and took note of distances and travel times.

Here is what I ended up with:

Now here’s for some fun…

320 hours: If we want to travel easy and just average 2 hours per trip, and only move once a week, then this should take us about 3 years! :D

25,600 km: We average about 400km on a tankload - that’s city driving, but without a trailer, so that prolly evens out there. Fill-ups cost us about $70 currently, but I know that petrol is pretty pricey once you’re out of the ‘burbs, so I’m guessing about $120 per tank. That is 64 fill-ups - $7,680 (ok, that’s a bit specific - let’s round it up to $8,000). But over 3 years is about $50 per week. That’s ok! Or maybe if we squeeze it into a year and a half - that’s $100 per week. That’s ok too!

Anyway - this shows that it’s do-able. Cool! :D
