A (big) step forward
Be careful what you say. Sometimes your words will come back to haunt you!
As you would know, if you have been following our progress, we were looking at getting a camper trailer to head off on our Australian Great Adventure.
Well, a while ago, when we were first planning this trip, I said to a few people “We are going, even if we only have a tent and a trailer!” Well, after a couple of months of scanning ebay and the Trading Post, the only thing that came up suitable (ie. with a bunch of camping gear, close enough to check it out before committing, and within our price range) was a lockable trailer with a big family tent, and some other stuff. And every time I asked God whether we should go for this, or hold out for a camper trailer, I just kept hearing my words ringing in my head. I felt as if He was asking “Were those just words, or were you really serious about going? Are you only going to leave if you have it all your way, or are you going to leave regardless?”
So we went and checked it out. Here is a piccie from the ad:

It is only two years old, it has only been on two trips, and includes:
- Family 3 room canvas tent
- Queen size folding bed and inflatable mattress
- Self-inflatable queen sized mattress
- Waeco 35L fridge
- gas lantern
- two burner bbq / grill
- electric toaster oven
- 2 x 9kg gas bottles
- folding cupboard
- folding adjustable-height table
The trailer also has a mount for a bike rack, which is good because I wasn’t too keen on having our bike rack on the towbar and weighing the back of the car down too much.
We put it up in the backyard today - only took about 3 hours, which I didn’t think was too shabby for a first time!
Of course, the boys had to have a sleepout!
So, we are now officially going!
Prolly in a couple of months - one to clear the rest of the stuff out of the house and clean it up, and the second to give our notice on the house, and do some short trips around to get used to it all.
Woo hoo!!!
