Join us as we head off on the great adventure around Australia (and perhaps one day, the world - we’re hoping!). The dream is we get ourselves a BIG RV (recreational vehicle, otherwise known as a motorhome) and disappear into the wilds of Oz with no set timetable (we expect to take at least six months) and a whole lot of places we’d like to visit, explore and enjoy. We’ve set the date and will begin our great adventure on February 11, 2008! We’re going to go, even if it means we head off in the car, with a trailer and a BIG tent!! Although, we’d definitely prefer the RV option!
Have you noticed the map on the right? Yup, I thought so. You may be wondering about the thick yellow lines and the pins - that is our proposed route and the pins are all the places we intend to visit, explore and enjoy. As we are on ‘no set timetable’ and doing this at our own pace, we don’t know how long we’ll stop at each place - it could be a couple of days, maybe even a couple of weeks - we’re gonna play it by ear.
At this stage, when we leave on Feb 11, 2008, we’re gonna do central Victoria for a few weeks, that way we’ll get a bit of an idea of what the heck is going on and figure out what stuff we packed into storage that we actually really do need and we’ll stop back in and pick up those things before we head north up the coast. We’ll go as far as we can/want to which means we may or may not ‘do’ the Cape York Peninsula, again, we’ll play it by ear. Then we’ll come back down through the middle of the eastern states, before heading north again up the centre, across the top and down the west coast. We’re not sure when we’ll visit Tassie, it will either be at the beginning of our great adventure, or the end, again, we’ll see how it goes.

And although we haven’t left yet, we’ve already started with Melbourne - there’s a great many places in and around Melbourne worth visiting, so we shall endeavour to include a few of them before we leave.
